Welcome to Earth Loving Travelers. We love traveling and have begun our home journey on becoming a more sustainable family. We recently started combining these passions and have had a difficult time in finding information about traveling sustainably, so we have started this blog to share what we have learned and what has worked well for us.

Our family of five have been very fortunate to get to visit so many places around not only the country but also the world! Here is a little bit about each of us!

“The Dad!” I am usually the driver (when needed) but that role has been lessened with more sustainable travel options (like public transport). One of our must finds when we arrive at our destination is the local coffee stop! I am becoming a master of the public transport systems around the world. I travel to see new perspectives and enjoy learning about the local customs and traditions wherever I may find myself. I enjoy cooking and this usually leads us to some local markets where we get to explore new cuisine and recipes to try out! Hopefully we can help you make your vacations great too!

At an early age I caught the travel bug and feel blessed to have passed the love of traveling and learning about new cultures to my three kids. Whether it’s speaking a new language (Dutch has been my hardest language so far), visiting historical sites or landmarks (the bunkers off the beaches of Normandy left me awestruck) or trying out local eats (tip = the longer the line, the better the food), nothing makes me happier then to experience these new things with my family.  Most would say I’m the planner of the group and I usually set the budget (mainly since I work in finance) but our kids have begun to take over some of the planning as they get older and become more seasoned travelers.  Recently we’ve tried to incorporate smarter decisions for the environment when traveling, since it’s something we already take into consideration in other areas of our lives.  We adore traveling and wanted to make a space where we could pool resources for sustainable travel and share them with others that feel the same way as we do.

“The entertainer.” Although a reluctant traveler from time to time, I have a nice affinity for photography of large landscapes to small plants. I’m the local history buff so I like to find museums and such that relate back to that! I prefer a more relaxed route of traveling, because I believe the best travel is via exploration. I’ll be a helping hand, and a PITA when I’m tired! I’ll help you find things that can drag along your moody teenager and encourage an exploration that fits their fixations and interests!

I love to travel and visit places I’ve never gone to before.
